Headshot Psychology

“There has never been a photo of me I liked…”

I’ve heard ‘em all.

So what happens when you need a headshot for yourself, your business, or for the company you work for?

Headshot Style

“Headshot” is a common photography term thrown around often, and it should be self explanatory. Stating the obvious, a headshot is a photo of a person, intended to show the person’s face. If you ask 10 people, you may have a lot of similarity, but I think there is still a vagueness about the term that leaves a lot of room for variability, and or style. So your idea of a headshot is usually different from his or her idea, is different from my idea… The final result is usually as unique as each individual.

The Value of Photographic Coverage

The Value of Photographic Coverage

There are so many places I have on my bucket list to visit, I’m sure I won’t get to them all. On the other hand, there are so many places around where I live that deserve to be explored, I’m sure I won’t get to them all!

Photography in the Parking Lot

Photography in the Parking Lot

I teach a summer photography camp for kids through the local community education department. The kids range in age from 10-14. The program asks that each kid come with a camera and hopefully, some interest in photography.

What that means is that when I show up for the first class, I really have no idea what I will find.

A Nantucket Photo Excursion

A Nantucket Photo Excursion

I’m back from our trip to Nantucket. This year was the 3rd year I’ve been on this trip. At this point, I know my way around the island pretty well, so we could be confident in where to go for some new images. Transportation logistics are the main limiting factor, as we are limited to bicycles for transportation.

A different photography blog

A different photography blog

Yes, I’m sure everyone says that. “My blog is different from all the others…” (Or at least thinks it...)

Of course, there are almost as many photography blogs as there are photographs. Almost…

So what is different? If you don’t believe there is a difference, then possibly you may need to adjust your thinking. That is not to be meant as arrogance, and I’m not going to tell you that this is the be all, end all photography blog.< /p>

But there is one thing that makes this blog different than all the other blogs. At the risk of stating the obvious, the difference is me. I, just like all the rest of you, are unique. It then becomes my responsibility to write from my perspective, and possibly, and even hopefully, show you an angle that is different from your own.

Isn’t that what photography really is?

I just poked around Google to see what the volume of photographs out there is. I’m not sure it’s possible to get a true accurate number. I found one site that said the average uploads to Flickr were just shy of 2 million per day! And that number was from 2012, and only Flickr. Suffice it to say there are a gajillion photographs out there. So again we must decide what’s different about my, your, our photographs? If you think 2 photographers standing next to each other get the same thing, then there is really no need to take any photographs. Give up now! Sell your camera, have a little extra cash, and move on. On the other hand…
